24 regional swimmers traveled to Luxembourg this weekend to represent the South East in the Euro Meet 2024. The level of competition was again high with athletes such as Sarah Sojstrom, Chad Le Clos and David Popovici in attendance.

Our team consisted of a mix of both young and experienced athletes. Over the weekend 19 swimmers stepped up in a strong field to progress into finals or fastest heats in the distance events. This included 8 A finals and 18 B finals plus the relay events.

A finals included; Max Morgan, Mia Colyer, Harry Wynne-Jones, Imogen Myles, Denys Mialkovskyi and Oliver Pope.

In addition to the A finalists, B finals also featured; Chris Finch, Darcy Revitt, Can Tugcetin, Jessica Gable, Charlotte Cope and Ellen Bagley.

On the distance events we added George Pearson, Christian Duetoft and Grace Cummings to the final proceedings.

In total the team bought home 26 medals, including 3 Junior, 22 Youth and 1 senior medal in the final event of the meet, the mixed medley relay which saw 4 great swims from Mia Colyer, Max Morgan, Chris Finch and Darcy Revitt.

Swim England launches 10year strategy

Swim England has unveiled its strategic vision for the next decade as it aims to champion a healthy and successful nation through swimming.

Access Aquatics sets out the national governing body’s key priorities to remove the barriers to participation and ensure its sports and activities are ‘accessible, inclusive and safe for everyone’

It recognises the ‘chronic challenges’ facing the sector which is threatening one of the ‘nation’s greatest assets’ and how it plans to work with partners to tackle inequalities and ensure Access to Aquatics for all.

The strategy focuses Swim England’s work up until 2033 under three areas – capability, people and water.

Capability’s guiding objectives aims to see a rise in the number of children leaving primary school able to swim and a reduction in the current inequalities in attainment levels, increase the total of Water Wellbeing accredited sites, grow the number of Swim England members and guarantee there is a network of financially-robust clubs with the structure and partnerships in place to support their long-term future.
