Introduction
The regional masters group would again like to welcome masters swimmers from across the South East Region to come along and participate in a development day tailored for the masters’ community. This year the focus will be specifically on the benefits of mobility and strength training on land. In the pool we will be looking to provide additional help/ information or even just a refresh for athletes preparing for race day.

Michael Peacock MSc, BSc (Hons) ASCC
Transitioning from athlete to coach, Michael has over 16 years coaching experience in various sports and now specialises in strength and conditioning. Michael holds a number of key roles including; Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for the English Institute of Sport, GB Wheelchair Rugby, and the injured Jockeys Fund. More specifically within Swimming Michael has been working at The City of Oxford Swimming club for the last 18 months and is the Zonal Lead for Swim England. Michael is currently supporting with the creation of Swimming Specific Land Training qualifications. Michael runs swimming coach CPDs in Land Training on behalf of Swim England.
Michael will talk through the principles of mobility and strength work in relation to competitive swimming and look to establish the varying needs across the group in order to provide some training templates and progression. There will be a practical element to the morning to ensure there is full understanding of the exercises presented so please come suitably dressed to participate.
Steve Greenfield
Steve has many years’ experience as both a Masters Swimmer and a qualified level 3 swim coach. He has had success in swimming at both National and International level, coaching success as a member of the England South coaching team and he is currently working as a Swim England tutor delivering coaching courses. He was Head Coach at Basingstoke Bluefins for 9 years and then coached at Portsmouth Northsea, Ryde and until recently Head Coach at Winchester City Penguins SC.
Steve will be leading the pool session, the focus here will be on race preparation. The session will include practices to focus on pacing, stroke rate and efficiency/ speed for starts and turns.
