Swim South East is one of 8 regions of The ASA, the English national governing body for swimming, diving, water polo, open water, and synchronised swimming. The Region covers Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Sussex and the parts of Surrey and Kent that are outside London.
Important: South East Region Swimming Championships - Call for Officials
Posted on 17 May 2013 at 13:52 by Mike Lambert
We currently have a distinct shortage of officials for all sessions of the BAGCAT Championships.
Please be aware that unless we can get a significant number of additional officials, times set at this competition will not be eligible for inclusion in ASA rankings because the rules on minimum number of officials cannot be complied with.
All officials need to be licensed ASA officials.
Anyone able to help should contact the officials organiser, Ian Bond, at swimsoutheastofficials@gmail.com
Volunteer Week 2013

Posted on 11 Apr 2013 at 17:14 by Bryony Gibbs (0 user comment)
Volunteers Week is an annual campaign that runs from 1st-7th June, led by Volunteering England, which celebrates the fantastic contribution that volunteers make across the country. This year the theme for the week is ‘Time to say Thank You.’
The ASA would like to use this week and the time around it to formally and publically thank our aquatic volunteer workforce, and so have a campaign running over the summer to recognise your dedication and contribution to the sport.
As part of this campaign, they are looking to create a video which will feature athletes and ASA staff saying thank you, and will showcase some of our volunteers in action. They are also going to feature case studies, photos and letters about our volunteers and the fantastic work you do in our special edition of the Volunteering E-Newsletter – Making a Difference. Please send in any photos, videos, or stories about volunteers in your clubs, at events or within the region to: volunteering@swimming.org
Everyone who sends in a story, picture or video will win a Special Edition Pin Badges, & the first 10 entries will also win free membership to British Swimming’s Go GBR Supporters Club, which will provide you with priority tickets for events, exclusive club offers and promotions and 10% discount on Go GBR merchandise!
Athlete Bursaries
Posted on 11 Apr 2013 at 11:57 by Bryony Gibbs (0 user comment)
The Development Group of the ASA South East Region has recognised the issues faced by some athletes and their families with the high cost of travelling long distances to training camps. Unfortunately we are not able to support all athletes and the majority of families will still have to pay all the costs, but we have brought in two new schemes to start in April 2013:
1. To help athletes from low-income families to attend the Beacon Programme. More details and application form are avaliable here.
2. To help athletes facing exceptional costs to attend national training camps – such as air travel from the Channel Islands to the mainland, or travel to Manchester for Water Polo training. More details and application form are avaliable here.
Awards are limited to £500 per athlete per year.
We hope these bursaries will allow talented athletes to attend such training and that it will make a difference to their future success in the sport.
