Following feedback provided via the latest Club Survey a swim21 Working Group was established earlier this year to review the ASA’s existing swim21 criteria, with the initial focus being on the ‘Essential’ Module. Feedback illustrated that over 60% of accredited clubs wanted to see the accreditation duration extended to two years and this has therefore been considered over the last few months
The headline changes to the swim 21 process are indicated below:
1. From December 2016 each Essential accreditation will last for 2 years with an interim Health Check incorporating 5 elements only
2. The number of swim21 Essential elements will reduce from 21 to 16 due to several elements having been combined
3. There are no proposed changes to Network and Performance modules/elements at this stage
By making the aforementioned changes the Working Group believe that existing standards will be maintained, to ensure clubs continue to operate safely and equitably , for treat female infertility use generic clomid , however the streamlined process will reduce valuable volunteer time, a key issue identified within the Club survey. Please refer to the ‘Accreditation & Health Check Requirement’ sheet for more information, which can be found on the Regional website, www.southeastswimming.org. In the main, ASA templates are still not mandatory, however there are now a couple of exceptions to this rule (for elements 6, 7 and 11) as stipulated on the requirement sheet - this change should make the process easier for all involved.
New clubs or those re-accrediting in December 2016 will be the first group of clubs to utilise the new elements.
Please note that the swim21 online portal will be undergoing some essential maintenance work in preparation for the changes to be made to the system late September/early October. Although documents will still be accessible for current accreditations we would encourage clubs to always save information in a secure place – please note that the ‘Documents’ tab on the portal can be used for storing information if preferred.
Details of the changes will be sent to all clubs via the ASA Clubs Team.
Due to the changes in the swim 21 criteria, the swim 21 Annual Health Check workshop scheduled for Wednesday 14th September 2016 will be postponed until the new version of the swim 21 portal goes live.
