What is the Swim England South East Bursary Scheme for Coaches Training?
This scheme is designed to reduce some of the financial burden experienced by individuals when undertaking their coaches training, Swim England South East Region has made some funding available towards the cost of Swim England/Institute of Swimming courses for Coaches in each discipline.
If you have a query about the scheme that is not answered in the below information please email: office@southeastswimming.org
Applicants must be from Swim England South East Region affiliated clubs with SwimMark accreditation.
Applications must be supported by a statement or evidence that the applicant has been actively engaged in teaching or coaching with the club for at least 6 months and expects to continue working at the club following the training. Clubs are encouraged to seek funding from alternative sources in addition to this bursary.
The proposed course must be recognised by Swim England and the applicant must meet the course criteria. Swim England South East has the final decision on which clubs should be subsidised.
Three candidates from eligible clubs can receive a bursary award in one financial year (01 January 2024-31 December 2024) for coaching courses taking place during this period. In addition each club is entitled to apply for one bursary per financial year towards a Senior Coach (formerly level 3) qualification. Unused bursaries will not be carried over.
Please note the year in which the bursary falls into is determined by the course date, not the date when the bursary was applied for.
Awards will be made to off-set the cost of training and examinations. Maximum bursaries are:
- Swim England Assistant Coach (previously level 1) courses £110.00
- Swim England Coach (previously level 2) courses £300.00
- Swim England Land Training Certificate & SEQ Level 2 Coaching Open Water Swimming 50% of Member Offer price
- Swim England Senior Coach (previously level 3) & Swim England Aspire/Inspire Programmes 75%
The bursary amounts for Assistant Coach and Coach courses have been amended in line with the Member Offer prices that are available all Swim England Affiliated Clubs.
Member Offer prices are available to clubs on Coaching courses through the Institute of Swimming. This offer gives clubs access to a significant discount (around 40% on the Assistant Coach / 30% on the Coach course) against RRP of the course. More information on how you can access the Member Offer can be found here: https://www.swimming.org/ios/book-courses-clubs/
Clubs are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the Member Offer. To confirm clubs using the Member Offer can apply for a Regional Bursary on top of the Member Offer pricing.
