South East Girls Success in GB Under 17 Girls Squad

Posted on 21 Aug 2014 at 15:36 by Bryony Gibbs (0 user comment)

Grace Walker (Hythe Aqua) & Lara Partridge (Crawley SC)  formed part of the GB Under 17 Girls (Born 1998 and later) water polo team at a recent tournament in Warendorf, Munsterland, Germany.  This was a first competitive international debut for most of the girls. The GB Girls drew together in this tournament, several, playing in a variety of positions, as the coaching team assess how best to gel the squad. Opposition consisted of a Germany side, that included some Under 19s, a Serbian Year 98 team, and Holland was represented by a regional ladies team.  GB came a creditable 2nd, beating Serbia comfortably, drawing with the Dutch, losing to a strong German side.

Changes to the South East Region Bursary Scheme for Teachers and Coaches

Posted on 02 Dec 2013 at 17:50 by Bryony Gibbs (0 user comment)

The scheme has been extended so that more bursaries will be available in special circumstances.

The South East Region provides bursaries to applicants from swim21 accredited clubs towards the cost of teacher and coach ASA/UKCC & SCUK courses.  The overall aim is to improve the standard of teaching and coaching within the Region and as a result improve the standard of our athletes throughout the sport.  Normally only three candidates from a club can receive a bursary award in one financial year, however for some clubs and some disciplines this has resulted in too few people booking for a course and the course being cancelled.

To tackle this problem clubs may apply for additional bursaries but they must put forward a case as to why this is required.  This is aimed at areas where it is difficult to get enough candidates to run a course, such as the Isle of Wight, Jersey and Guernsey, or courses for the disciplines with fewer clubs (diving, water polo and synchro).  However other circumstances may also be considered.

A copy of the updated criteria and application form is avaliable here.
