Portsmouth Northsea Swimming Club has recently been selected by the ASA for Beacon Programme status. As a result of this exciting opportunity we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised, highly motivated and committed Head Coach who is qualified to the highest standards in the sport to manage and lead the implementation and delivery of the ASA (South East Region) Beacon Programme alongside the duties of Club Head Coach.
Established in 1927, we are a Swim 21 accredited Club with around 230 members, catering for all standards of swimming from those just out of learn to swim programmes through to county, regional, elite National, International and Masters. The Club has significant pool time at the brand new 50m 8 lane Pool facility in the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Excellence in coaching and the ability to motivate swimmers at all levels.
- Consistency in coaching approach implemented throughout the Club, using the long term athlete development plan under the Beacon Programme.
- Strong leadership skills to lead and mentor a team of experienced assistant coaches, and poolside helpers
- Personal coaching of the top squad to prepare swimmers for County, Regional, National and International competitions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with club members, committee and parents.
- Sound administration skills.
- Commitment to oversee all squads within the club structure and to attend weekend events to support club swimmers.
- Ability to formulate training and competition programmes to reflect the needs of all levels of ability; focusing on continuing the successes of the Club.
The salary offered to the will be circa £34,000 depending on qualifications and experience together with the opportunity to earn an additional bonus for meeting Key Performance Indicators.
