Now the post penultimate event (work it out!), the mens 200m backstroke. Heat times suggest a comfortable win for Graham Joyce from City of MIlton Keynes. Callum Hillicks goes on very quickly in a soon-to-be-illegal costume. Four in a row at 100m as Callum starts to go backwards and in a very close finish, Joseph Canlan-Shaw from Oxford just touches first.
Posted by Mike Lambert on 08 Nov 2009 at 16:30
The penultimate event .. the ladies 200m breaststroke and if the heats are anything to go by, it should be a close race between Annabel Humphreys and Florence Claringbold. Florence takes an early lead, but Annabel is right with her at 100m. In the end, Annabel Humphreys wins comfortably in 2.40.48.
Posted by Mike Lambert on 08 Nov 2009 at 16:26

Just 5 swimmers left in the mens 4x50 IM after 7 withdrawals. Steven King should win this comfortably and indeed is well clear at the half way point. Kevin Mitchell applies some pressure in the final 50, but Steven cruises home in 2.13.29 (well outside his heat time).
Posted by Mike Lambert on 08 Nov 2009 at 16:18
Now the final session of finals .. pity so few people are left on poolside. First of this batch of 6 is the ladies 200m butterfly. They touch together at 175m and Sophie pulls 1/2 metre clear in the last 25. Slower rimes than in the heats.
